Dead as stone
Whatever it takes to get to the sea.
Sore from waiting
I hate to say
The pining of romance
Some oceans away
Oceans were made to hide my grief.

Post-Its
You leave me Post-Its in curvy script,
smiles today and hearts tomorrow.
My breakfast’s made, the bed’s warm,
You’ve left for work and I’m just home.
You work the days and I the nights,
Weekends are our dearest times.
I hold you close you hold me tight,
and slow dance as the hours chime.
To each other we always wrote,
handwritten with a “yours dearly”.
Pasted on mirrors and wardrobes,
signed off symbols “less than three”.
We got by on love and art
Scraped by when times were tough.
I had little to proffer but my heart,
yet I felt it wasn’t enough.
I suggested we got a bigger place,
We worked late nights and longer days.
The breakfasts stopped, the bed sheets cold,
You’re still working, I’m hardly home.
Weekends we wasted with lame squabbles,
Till a day in us you saw but sorrow.
You left me a Post-It in short scribbles,
an “it’s over” today and none tomorrow.
